John Deaton Knocks Elizabeth Warren For Lies and Subterfuge on ABC’s “This Week” Program

WOBURN – John Deaton, candidate for U.S. Senate, is drawing attention to an interview that aired on Sunday where Sen. Elizabeth Warren told ABC’s “This Week” host Martha Raddatz a number of lies and half-truths about the immigration crisis, in an attempt to distract from her inability to secure funding or resources for Massachusetts. Deaton, who in April visited the U.S. southern border where he previously served as a Marine, reacted by saying voters expect an honest Senator who doesn’t hide from the truth when convenient.

“The issues facing our country are bad enough without politicians on both sides of the aisle talking out of both sides of their mouths. Elizabeth Warren went to Washington to make a difference, but sadly she is now shilling for policies she disagrees with and which have come too late to keep from burdening Massachusetts with a record-breaking number of migrants,” said Deaton. “Voters on the right and the left are tired of Elizabeth Warren’s empty promises and meaningless rhetoric. I support bipartisan immigration reform and will work with Democrats and Republicans alike as Massachusetts’s next U.S. Senator.”

Warren on “This Week” stated the following:

FALSE: “On the very first day he was sworn into office, President Biden asked Congress for both the resources and for comprehensive immigration reform. The Republicans blocked it, blocked it, blocked it, blocked it,” said Warren.

FACT: Raddatz reminded Warren that President Trump “didn’t have that either,” referring to new congressional appropriations or authorizations to act. In fact, Democrats controlled both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House when President Biden took office. And on Day One, President Biden repealed the previous administration’s executive orders which kept illegal crossings to a historic low. Between 2016 and 2020 the U.S. experienced about two (2) million illegal crossings; under President Biden, nearly seven (7) million illegal crossings have occurred at the southern border.

FALSE: “The president is doing what he can with the resources available to him,” said Warren.

FACT: Biden has promised to reinstitute border wall funding, a plan that Warren called “racist” in 2020. Earlier this month, Warren slammed Biden’s border order as “a functional ban on asylum.” In December 2023 she called Biden’s plans for increased deportations and asylum crackdowns the “wrong direction.”

FALSE: “He can’t manufacture more judges… if Congress doesn’t give him the resources,” said Warren.

FACT: The Senate confirms federal judgeships overseeing immigration cases and is controlled by Democratic Sen. Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY). President Biden has seen more of his judicial nominees approved than any president since Ronald Reagan.

FALSE: “Little kids can go off to school and don’t have to worry about whether mom or dad will still be part of their family when they get home,” said Warren.

FACT: In Massachusetts, the Department of Children and Families (DCF) has been separating migrant families in instances where mothers experienced issues like postpartum depression and fathers were living in shelters. The Boston Globe previously highlighted these instances where DCF took custody of the children.
